‘Sticker shock’: Inflation, Ozempic drive health care costs higher for Minnesota schools

School districts across Minnesota are struggling to contain double-digit health insurance cost increases. Some officials say inflation and accelerating prescription costs, especially for new weight loss drugs, are to blame.
 
‘Someone’s got to help’: Minnesota volunteers give injured, orphaned animals a chance

Trained wildlife rehabbers work to save injured and orphaned wildlife. Most get no pay. They scrape by on grants and help from local volunteers, doing the work for the joy of giving animals a chance to return to the wild.

🚑 Flash floods in Texas have killed at more than 80 people, many of them children. Heavy rains fell quickly in the predawn hours Friday in the Texas Hill Country, causing the Guadalupe River to rise 26 feet in just 45 minutes. Among the missing are 10 girls and a counselor from Camp Mystic, a Christian summer camp. The July Fourth holiday weekend likely brought an influx of visitors to the area outside San Antonio, making it difficult to track all the people who may have been in the area.

🛳️ Duluth scientists discover novel ‘Ship Goo‘ aboard Great Lakes research vessel. Researchers with the University of Minnesota Duluth’s Large Lakes Observatory have discovered a new microbe hidden deep in the oily rudder shaft of its research vessel the Blue Heron.

🚧 Recovery efforts continue in Beltrami County.
In the aftermath of last month’s destructive storm, Beltrami County’s landfill space has been operating at capacity.

🗳️Trump and GOP target ballots arriving after Election Day that delay counts and feed conspiracy fears. President Donald Trump and other Republicans have long criticized states that take weeks to count their ballots after Election Day. This year has seen a flurry of activity to address it.

🏀 Collier scores 22 to lead Lynx over Valkyries 82-71. Napheesa Collier scored 22 points as the Minnesota Lynx defeat the Golden State Valkyries 82-71 on Saturday night . The Lynx took control with a 15-4 run late in the third quarter and extended their lead in the fourth.

🚨 13-year-old Minnesota boy killed in fireworks accident.
A 13-year-old boy died after being struck by a firework Friday night in Naytahwaush, Minn. The boy was identified as Michael Turner of Naytahwaush, which is located about 80 miles east of Fargo.
