Good morning, Minnesota. Welcome to Wednesday. 

🌨️ Winter storms will continue across northern Minnesota today. A winter storm warning is posted for portions of northern Minnesota through Wednesday.

❄️ Blizzard warnings are posted for Duluth and the North Shore. Winds have been gusting to more than 60 mph at the Duluth airport and utilities are reporting thousands of homes and businesses without power. There's even been some lightning amid the heavy snow. Snow totals by tomorrow could reach 2 feet along the North Shore.

🌧️ To the south... rain will change over to snow today. The Twin Cities may get an inch or two by Thursday with 2 to 4 inches for Willmar and St. Cloud.

🌨️ Thursday: Mostly cloudy. Chance of snow. Highs in the lower 20s to lower 30s northwest, to mid-30s to lower 40s southeast.

Minnesota man faces deportation to Laos for a crime he committed more than 30 years ago
At “Ricky” Chandee pled guilty to assault when he was 18 and served a prison sentence in the early 1990s. Since his release, he has worked for the city of Minneapolis for nearly 30 years. His family says he is not a threat to public safety, despite the Trump administration’s portrayal of him.

🪴 Federal hemp ban leaves Minnesota THC sellers in limbo. Minnesota already regulates hemp edibles, but it's unclear what Congress’ new cannabis rules mean for the state. That’s creating uncertainty for businesses that sell other hemp-derived beverages and other products.

🔎 FBI, St. Paul police probing ICE arrest that resulted in skull fractures.  Minnesota and federal authorities are investigating the alleged beating of a Mexican citizen by immigration officers last month, seeking to identify what caused the eight skull fractures that landed the man in the ICU of a Minneapolis hospital.

💰 Minneapolis City Council to vote on $7M for small business support.  Last week, the city of Minneapolis released a report on the financial effects of the federal operation. It estimated that restaurant and small business revenue losses total about $81 million in January.

❄️ Meet one of the drivers who clears snow off Twin Cities highways. When heavy snowfall hits the state, one person you might see on the roads is Maggie Faris. She’s been plowing snow for nine years with the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

⚖️ Journalist vows to fight federal charges connected to St. Paul church protest.  Georgia Fort, an independent Black journalist who documented the protest, made a brief appearance in St. Paul federal court, where she pleaded not guilty to felony civil rights charges along with activist Trahern Crews.

🚨 Kidney transplant recipient in ICE custody may be released soon. A kidney transplant recipient from Minnesota now in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody in Texas is finally set to return to home.

🧑‍⚖️ Court hearings Tuesday, Wednesday in lawsuit alleging ICE agents racially profiled U.S. citizens. A federal judge heard testimony Tuesday from U.S. citizens and immigrants in Minnesota who say federal agents stopped and arrested them without warrants or probable cause.

🥶 Thousands flock to see Apostle Islands ice caves; access closed on Tuesday.  Thousands of people trekked along the shore of Lake Superior in northern Wisconsin on Monday to see the Apostle Islands ice caves — the first day they were open to access on foot in 11 years.

🤝 Rev. Jesse Jackson’s connections to Minnesota go back decades. Over his long career, civil rights icon the Rev. Jesse Jackson made many visits to Minnesota to champion causes and work to empower people who were underrepresented.
